Tomohiro Fujii, who won the highest award in the videographer category at the 2012 World Heli challenge in New Zealand, and also launched Maddoc and has a unique world view. The gap between the appearance and the innovative creative is also his charm.
This time, I will mainly send an interview with Tomohiro Fujii, who listens to last year's activities and his commitment to video.

2012 I've been active in many places these days, but I think the highest award of last year's World heli Challenge in NZ was particularly wonderful. How was your participation in the XNUMX World heli Challenge?

It's one of the best extreme contests in which top players such as Travis Rice, Ante Outy, JJ Thomas, Mike Basic, and Shin Miyajima have participated, and I knew from magazines that it was a great tournament. ..However, I didn't know that there was a video contest at all, and apparently I almost gave up because only 6 cinematographers from all over the world were invited.I was really happy when I got OK, no, when I arrived at the hotel room in NZ, beer boxes were piled up and I was very happy when I was told that I could drink as much as I wanted.

While living with the world's top snowboarders and skiers in NZ, the contest takes two weeks to shoot them and make one work, going out to the city for surfing and skatepark drinking, helicopter snowboarding. I was able to experience a wonderful event that was truly world-class on a scale, and it was the best to receive the highest award.Has it changed since then? You may be asked, but the environment has definitely changed significantly.I am now able to spend more exciting days than before.

XNUMX What is Tomo-kun particular about before shooting or releasing it as a work?

The work is made by combining each and every imagination that spreads infinitely in my head, and I am always conscious of giving inspiration and surprise to the viewer. There are two points that I am particularly conscious of.

One is to intentionally create a picture that feels strange. For example, in the cut of the meal scene, the color of the clothes of the person in the back seat was blue, but in the next cut it was black, the color of the soup, the order of the fork. I don't think most people will notice it, but it's often done by mischievous directors in Hollywood movies. The other is to create a world that cannot be seen in everyday life or with the naked eye.Place the camera on the ground and see it from a dog, cat, or child, or raise it high.Time lapse and slow motion are also invisible to the naked eye.Unconsciously?I think that it is one of the pleasures of making a video to make a point that catches the heart of the viewer, and if you look at the work with that in mind, you can enjoy it in a different way. Is it? ..
There are many other things, but I think it's interesting that anyone can do this, so please give it a try.

XNUMX) I launched Maddoc. Please tell me the reason.

I've been sending lifestyles that are deeply connected to street culture and outdoor culture, but I'm limited to the narrow area of each genre, but I'm not bound by such restrictions, and I'm using videos, photos, and artwork for my ideas. I wanted to use it and send it more freely. If you check out maddoc in the future, you'll understand what it means.
