Interview with Fumika Hoshino

A few years ago, I had a consultation saying, "I want to have a place to play an active role overseas!"
Of course, from that time on, my snowboarding skills had produced some results as a professional, but I never thought I would go to Canada for a year and live my life abroad.

Living abroad is fun, and there are many different lifestyles, but it's not just fun.Being able to speak English is also necessary in everyday life, and we have to adapt to the fact that things that are commonplace in Japan are no longer commonplace.

However, Fumika Hoshino has steadily taken over the place of activity in Canada and abroad. When the "natural" lifestyle in Japan and the "natural" lifestyle overseas are fused, she will step up further.

XNUMX) I think there are many people who don't know, but as a professional snowboarder, Fumika, who is as good at golf as a professional, decided to focus on the snowboarding lifestyle. ??

My parents love golf and have been taken to the driving range for a long time. When I was in the first year of junior high school, my father entered the junior golf tournament without permission, and if he was forced to participate and reluctantly appeared, it would be really fun!I usually play golf in a group of four people for a day, but it was really fun to get along with those three children. After that, I participated in busy competitions, and my brother was already playing golf in high school in earnest, so I practiced while being instructed by my brother and father.

In high school, I went on the same path as my brother and became a member of the golf club, where I became taught by professional golfers.I've been living a crazy life.
In the last summer of my third year of high school, I finally got a good record, won the Niigata Women's Amateur Golf Championship, participated in the Pro Tour, and came to interviews, sponsors, and university scouts. The members of the federation also thought that I would go on the road to golf, but when I was in elementary school, I was the first in my life to say "I want to do it myself" and started snowboarding.I've always loved it, thinking that I want to get better at snowboarding even when playing golf, reading how-to of Yukame Yamazaki, and before going to high school, I can't go to school without seeing Osamu Ohira's part. I was addicted to the charm of.Lol

At that time, I had a professional golfer or a professional snowboarder in my head. There was only one choice between these two.I think I should have gone on the golf road when I thought about my parents, but I couldn't give up on snowboarding and I really wanted to do it in earnest.
My parents and the golf world were against it, but I cried and bowed down to change my course from golf to snowboarding. From there, I once got a job at a golf caddy, saved money and enrolled in a snowboarding college (JWSC).

Since I was allowed to shift from golf to snowboarding, I decided to "become an absolute professional snowboarder" and spent time at JWSC because I wanted to be recognized by my parents and everyone in the golf world who took care of me.With the help and support of various people, I was able to qualify as a professional snowboarder within a year and a half (JWSC second grade) after shifting to snowboarding.
Since I got a professional qualification, my parents and the golf world have been supporting me in snowboarding.
My brother became a long-sought professional golfer last year, so both my parents and I were overjoyed, and I'm relieved that my brother gave me the most regrettable filial piety that I couldn't do.Lol

I want to continue to be a [real professional snowboarder who can play golf] with a sense of responsibility while making use of what I learned from golf.
I still like golf and it has a positive effect on snowboarding, so I will continue to do so ☆

Not many people know actually she has semi-pro golf skill….

XNUMX) I think you were riding overseas this season as well, but how was your life abroad and riding?

This season, I lived in Whistler, Canada for three months, the same as the previous season.
Whistler has huge mountains and plenty of parks so you can enjoy everything from powder to parks. Can I slide to such a place? ??Can't I go to the lift platform without jumping this rock? ??
Everybody in the local area is slipping around a big mountain while playing while flying bang bang.
It was also a season when the way of thinking of [free run] changed.
In addition, there are buses in the town, and transportation is very convenient and easy to live in.
This season, I lived with the same sponsor, POP HDWR rider, and I was able to get along with ROXY rider, skate and talk with him, and it was a very exciting Wisler high season life!

She is having a great experience with worldwide snowboarders.

XNUMX) You participated in the Burton European Open. How was the atmosphere and level of the tournament?

Everyone was nervous, like a tournament, but like a festival, but yeah!I pushed each other and respected each other, and I really enjoyed it.
However, the riders who are out are all famous riders who always see on the screen, and the first TTRXNUMX star was very exciting and exciting.Lol I got a lot of pictures taken with Miha fully open!Lol
It felt like I was in the video screen I was always watching!

She competed Burton European Open.

XNUMX) What is the level of Japanese riders when you go to various competitions and see the riding of overseas riders around you with your own eyes?

The level of boys was very high. What a double was a matter of course.Girls are definitely improving, but not as much as boys, so I felt that Japanese girls had a chance.

Today's book is full of quests, kings, and indoor slopes, and if you make effective use of the facilities, Japanese people will definitely be able to monopolize the podium! As foreign riders come to the training camp for quests, the training environment in Japan is in place, so I feel that I can improve my level steadily depending on my motivation.

fumika3 (1)
She thinks Japanese women have a chance to prove their ability at international competition.

4) You won the Advance Cup in April, but what are your thoughts?

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm !! !! !! !! !!
is.Lol
I wasn't in 8th, 5th, 2nd, 10th place this season, so I'm very happy to win the title at the end. Also, I am relieved to be able to leave the results in front of me because I am indebted to President Mike of Advance.

fumika4 (2)
She got 1st at Advance Cup. ¥ 600,000! yeah where do you wanna go for drink?

XNUMX) What do you think is the best part of the snowboarding lifestyle?

I think it depends on my own way of thinking, but I can meet a lot of different people.A place where one's thoughts, actions, and horizons change depending on the people who meet. The place where life changes steadily by it.
The snowboarding life is full of scenery that you wouldn't be able to see in a normal life, an environment that you couldn't see, and people you couldn't meet.

I'm happy and the possibilities are getting bigger and bigger.Life with such a snowboard is lucky!

fumika5 (1)
Now she has heaps of friends in Whistler. You can say it is her 2nd home.

XNUMX) What kind of boards, Binding, and Boots do you think are good for Fumika, who continues to participate in slopestyle competitions?

Board: ROXY OLLIE POP (C2CTX)
From free run to gratri, jib and jump, you can enjoy all the events with one.The rocker element is exhibited when jib or powder, and the camber element is exhibited when free-running or jumping. It's not too hard, not too soft, and the waist is a little thin, so it's very easy to handle ☆

Binding: BURTON LEXA
It is a model that riders like because it is not too hard and not too soft.
The rubber hammock attached to the high back gives a very good grip between the boots and the binding, and the sense of unity between the boots and the board and the reaction to the board are the best.

Boots: BURTON SUPREME
The polyurethane inner makes it warm in winter, and the waterproof effect of spring snow is very high.I snowboard spring snow every day, but my socks don't get wet!
And even if you wear it every day, it's hard to get tired!
I'm in the best condition!

XNUMX) One last word

It's been a long time, but thank you to everyone who read it!

We will continue to work so that many people can meet snowboarding!
Life with snowboarding is really lucky ☆
I will continue to see the scenery that I haven't seen yet and tell everyone!

We look forward to your continued support of Fumika Hoshino!
