DREAM SESSION 3 was held at Hakuba Norikura Onsen Ski Resort on 12 / 13-2016 last weekend. The attraction of this event, which was held for the first time last year, is the bank and bowl crops of the funny terrain produced by topographical researcher Goro Komatsu.Last year, the layout was compact with multiple banks arranged in a well-balanced manner in the three-dimensional space at the foot of the ski resort (details are published in the March issue of FREERUN, P3-62).And this year, items were created in another area of the ski resort, and a total of nearly 63 users participated on both days, and the two-day session was very exciting.
Last year I participated only on the day of the tournament, but this year I decided to enter the site one day before the event and participate from item creation. In this report, I will focus on the story of how to create a "dream stage" that I didn't have much chance to know.
We met at the ski resort at 3:11 am on 9/00 (Friday).About 10 people, including rider Masashi Nishina and local Hakuba / Azumino locals, gathered in the parking lot. When I asked about the situation at the site, it seemed that last year's location was difficult to make items due to lack of snow, and it was said that the construction had been underway for four days in the area of the former pipe site of the ski resort. When I made preparations and headed to the site, a person who was made by Yu Nagasawa was working around the middle of the pipe platform. It was on the other side of the pipe, so when I headed to the top of the pipe, producer Goro Komatsu welcomed me with a smile.
"Thank you for your help. I chose this place because there wasn't much snow this year. If there isn't much snow, you can have an interesting course if you think about it. This course is in Japan, this is in old Japan, and that masterpiece is working. The place I'm doing is a remote island and Galapakos Island ……. ”It was an item explanation like Goro Komatsu from the beginning lol.
After the explanation, if you look around carefully, the bank & bowl course for snowboarding spreads on the opposite side of the pipe slope that you just climbed, and the bottom of the upper part of the pipe is exclusively for snowboards that are built mainly by Atsushi Gomei and Masaru Matsuura. From the middle to the bottom of the course and the pipe platform, a bank course for snow skating produced by Yusaku Nagasawa is under construction. However, there were still some places where the snow was just collected, and the end bowl of the snowboard course was in an unfinished state. While talking about various things, the digging staff gradually gathered, and OUTFLOW's Isamu Nishiyama, GREEN.LAB's Jiro Nakayama, Konno "Porn" Noboru, local SHOP VEX's Mr. Kanazawa, Tsugaike's local Ken Shibuya, Toyama About 30 other people, such as the crew, YONEFILM, and DIGGIN'MAG DIE GO, gathered and the work proceeded in earnest.
I also borrowed a snow shaper and started to maintain the end bowl.Under their instructions, to work to prepare the exquisite R without breaking it.In addition, we will adjust the R of the landing and arrange the snow piled up in Yumbo into a semi-circular mokkori shape for banking and pumping. When all these riders get together and start making items, the work goes smoothly. The size of the items and the angles of the banks and bowls were adjusted while imagining the lines that everyone slipped on.
The most memorable thing was that when the snow pile of about 3m x 2m was made into a mokkori shape with a few digger and completed, Goro Komatsu didn't like it. "I'm sorry. There are too many corners and it becomes a lip to landing R, and it becomes a line only for jumps, so I wonder if you can make the corners a little rounder and smoother. By doing so, the terrain becomes 3D. Then, more various lines will be created. It's more interesting! ", And everyone readjusted the corners smoothly. Then, it transformed into an item that you can imagine various ways of entering. It's almost like ● lol.
The items, layouts, and event shapes that Goro Komatsu envisions are whether each person can freely draw various lines. And the point is how to create and capture the terrain created by everyone and create styles and connect them. And this free space and session is the real pleasure of DREAM SESSION.You can lay back or slide the board with the lip of the bank, or you can jump, that is, anyone can enjoy it regardless of the level as long as you can slide. And it is also the depth of this bank & bowl that the style comes out even when taking a line.In this way, I made a bank from the creation, tried and slipped repeatedly, repeated fine adjustments and imagined various lines, and prepared for the production. This year, I realized the meaning of this event by feeling the atmosphere of the structure.
And another point of this year's DREAM SESSION.I was troubled by lack of snow all over the country this season, but there are many ways to play even if there is little snow. The feature of this item is that a course where you can play with snowboards and snowskates as well as snowboards is set up like a Disneyland theme park, and participants change the board from snowboards to snowboards and snowskates according to the snow conditions. However, it was possible to slip through each item. There was a free board rental by a snow board maker and a snow board maker, a test drive event, and a food booth, so everyone from children to adults could enjoy it as a piece. If you participate next year, bring a snowboard or snow boots for snow boots and recommend the perfect style. It's an event where you can play all kinds of snowy horizontal play like Hakuba.
Lovers get together to create items for those who like it.
And on the day, lovers get together and enjoy the snow-covered horizontal event to the fullest.
DREAM SESSION, a dream event!
Organizer Goro Komatsu and other riders, item creation staff, people involved, and users who participated.Thank you for your hard work this year too!
And thank you for the best dream time.
