In today's book, diseases such as leukemia and aplastic anemia can be completely cured by transplantation of hematopoietic stem cells such as bone marrow transplantation.In order to receive this treatment, the presence of a donor who donates these cells is essential.However, it doesn't matter if it belongs to everyone, and the key to success is to match the leukocyte type.The drawback is that the precision rate is very low, 1/4 for siblings and hundreds to tens of thousands for others.Throughout Japan, the number of patients with these diseases continues to increase by about 1 each year, and there are more than 6,000 patients who have not found a donor in their family and wish to have a transplant through a bone marrow bank."SNOW BANK PAY IT FORWARD 2,000" is an event for such patients to let people of all ages know about the bone marrow bank through snowboarding. As of the end of July 2015, the number of registered donors is approximately 2015.The Bone Marrow Bank is looking for healthy, young donor registrants.Therefore, we will hold a snowboarding event where young people gather in Tokyo instead of in the mountains to deepen their knowledge of the bone marrow bank.With the cooperation of the Japanese Red Cross Society, a blood donation-type bone marrow donor registration meeting will also be held at the venue.Last year, we attracted about 7 people in two days and told young people the importance of blood donation and bone marrow donor registration.This year as well, with the cooperation of the Japanese Red Cross Society, we will call a blood donation vehicle and aim to acquire new bone marrow donor registration applicants and new blood donation applicants.
