I decided to go to New Zealand with ATOMIC for a month from the end of July 2012.The purpose is to participate in off-season snowboarding and BILLABONG competitions.A fresh trip with Yo-kun, which is almost the first time overseas, has begun.
Cars are a necessity in New Zealand life.For some reason, Yo-kun didn't get an international driver's license, so he had to drive for a month.It takes about 1 minutes from the accommodation WANAKA to the ski resort.For the last 40 minutes or so, I will continue to climb roads that are unthinkable in Japan without guardrails on gravel roads.
SNOW PARK, where I bought the season pass, is a small ski resort with one lift.However, there is a high quality park there, and riders from all over the world come to practice.One of the purposes, the BILLABONG tournament and the BURTON tournament, are also held.The days of skiing while enjoying the feeling of snowboarding for the first time in a long time have begun.
Every day I run the park every day.Skating after returning.And in the neighboring town, there was the most delicious potato shop I had ever eaten, and I went there four times a week. If you go with a recommendation near WANAKA, definitely here.Fat older sister?However, the day of the clerk is very good. One week after arriving in NZ, the BILLABONG tournament started.My condition was completely, I lost easily, and the tournament ended without any good points.So, aside from this story, I started to get better and enjoyed snowboarding.But honestly, I'm skating in the same place every day, so I thought I was getting tired of it.
There, Kazu from SBN told me to go to CARDRONA at the right time. Unlike SNOW PARK, CARDRONA allows free runs on wide burns and terrain.I couldn't come because I bought the SNOW PARK season pass even though it was very close.There wasn't much snow, but after a lot of free runs, I finally felt like I was able to snowboard.I did some light shooting and had a stimulating day.
Until last year, I never thought I would skate on SNOWPARK for a month, and I never thought I would get bored this year.Snowboarding in me changes every day, and it was a journey that reminded me that it is snowboarding that I enjoyed not only the park but also turns and skiing and drawing free lines.
On the way back, I took a little detour to see the steepest slopes in the world, searched for wild penguins, hang out with Yo-kun, and traveled home freely.I couldn't find a penguin, but a fur seal?Enjoyed the road to the airport while seeing up close and looking at the beautiful scenery.To be honest, it was hard to drive alone.Lol
Sightseeing like this is also indispensable for my snowboarding.Not only snowboarding, but other than that, you can go to various places and see and feel it with your own eyes.It was a good trip with good friends.
