"TRANSITORS" is a movie project in which the DC Snow Team delivers images taken while traveling around the world in real time. The 2019 winter / Japanese version has already been visualized with SBN FREERUN (article isplease use this form.) Introduced and gathered a big topic.

And, in the gear that DC global team riders talk about, the third FOCUS is the Ikka Backstrom, which gives off outstanding slip and presence in every field.

Q. Welcome to Japan, Ikka.Did you learn Japanese?
Japanese is difficult (laughs).I've been to Japan many times for many years, but I can't remember.I was able to slide powder in Hokkaido this time as well, and I was able to communicate with everyone in Japan and had a good time.

Q. Where is Ikka from Finland?
The capital of Finland is Helsinki, and the neighboring town of Espo.Finland's second largest city, a very calm city with abundant greenery.

Q. What is the difference between snow in Japan and other countries?
It is light snow with little humidity, and there is an image that it often falls.Finland, my home country, also has a cold climate, so it snows, but the amount of snowfall is not as high as in Japan. In Helsinki, Finland, there are many days when the temperature is below 0 degrees, and in the Lapland region in northern Finland, it is not uncommon for the temperature to be -40 degrees and 50 degrees. It's a country where the cold of winter is really severe.By the way, just as Japan has a culture of hot springs, Finland is the birthplace of saunas and has a culture of saunas.

Q. Then Ikka, what kind of gear do you use this season?First of all, from the boots.
I'm wearing US8.5 size TUCKNEE boots.I like very soft boots.Among the DC boots released this season, TUCK NEE is a pair that belongs to a very soft type.It is made to be well protected with ankle support without hindering knee flexion and extension.I really like it because it's soft but has the best support you need.Available in two colors: black and white x black. The silhouette is simple and matches any clothing or board design. It comes in a variety of sizes and is easy to wear for a wide range of snowboarders.

Q. You use different boards depending on the field.First of all, tell us about powder and backcountry boards.
I like to ride SPACE ECHO (the model used is an FTP model limited to overseas) when skiing deep powder like Niseko or when backcountry. When I say that, it's easy to think that this board is for the back mountain, but it's a model that adapts to all-round from the carving turn of the slope to the wall terrain. The board has a directional shape that improves control and a directional twin (the arc of the edge is a little behind) that combines a highly stable twin flex.It is relatively hard and has a camber of 6 mm.Available in two sizes, 154 and 158.Following last year's model, Paul Jackson, who is from the UK and lives in Toronto, Canada, is in charge of the design.I really like the unique graphics.

Q. What is the board when you want to attack the park?
The 156 is the best combination of true twin shape, traditional camber, and lightweight fresh deck topsheet. It's a little stiff and the camber is easy to handle with 6mm, and Justin (Fronis), the leading park rider of the same DC team rider, also likes to ride. It's a basic and standard model that can be carved comfortably and is in good condition.

Q. Please tell us about the clothing that Ikka also participated in the design.
I participated in the design of the PALOMAR jacket. I want to give it a retro feel of the 90's.It tends to look simple for a moment, but it's very gorgeous and impactful on pure white snow.It has excellent breathability, water repellency, and 15k waterproofness, and has excellent functionality. It's cool to wear a hood and slip without problems even when it's snowing. Don't you remember the heyday of the hot park in the 90's !?

Q. What about pants?
I wear CODE PNT with an emphasis on ease of wearing.I like the silhouette, which isn't too thin and not too thick, and the design, which has only two large pockets and doesn't insist too much. There is no problem even in extremely cold regions, and it has excellent functionality such as waterproofness. There are 3 standard colors and 4 camouflage colors in total. The camouflage is also fashionable and cool.

Q. Thank you.How was it looking back on this trip to Hokkaido at Transitors?
Blessed with great snow, I enjoyed skiing in some good spots.Exciting fields are expanding in Japan, and I'm always looking forward to coming.

Q. Please tell us about the snowboarding that Ikka will enjoy in the future.
Powder runs on tight slopes will continue to be greedy and the most enjoyable.I want to actively go backcountry with young children, share my experiences, and get something from them.I want to help each other and ski in pursuit of free riding.

Q. Finally, do you have a message for Japanese snowboarders?
Japanese food is delicious, safe, polite, and above all, personality. There are many places to emulate Japanese culture, which is the best.Finns are often described as reticent and shy, but I wonder if there is something similar to Japanese people, which gives me a sense of intimacy.I think the level of snowboarding is also rising.I want you to continue without changing that in the scene, and to see more and more good snowboarders.Hey hey (meaning goodbye in Finnish) until then because I will definitely come to Japan again.
