AUTUMN MTN TECHNICAL OUTERWEAR
Headwear and accessory brand AUTUMN will launch its highly anticipated outerwear line, "autumnMTN technical outerwear," from its 2025 FALL collection.
The company welcomes four outerwear riders, Dan Liedhal (USA), Jody Wachniak (Canada), Alek Oestreng (Norway), and Ru Nonoguchi (Japan), and will begin expanding its business around the world.
The AUTUMN brand owner comments on the international team.
"As representatives of AUTUMN, it was most important for us to build a truly international team that could send the same message around the world. Compared to the past, I feel that the current snowboarding scene has become more accepting of riders who have style and good personalities, regardless of nationality or language, so the outerwear team plans to develop a team that places importance on this point in the future. In addition, all four of them are riders who are respected by their friends who have been using Beanie since the brand was launched. Ryu in particular is a rider who has supported us since the beginning of AUTUMN, and I thought he would be able to effectively convey the brand image to the Japanese snowboarding scene. He is always smiling and is respected by everyone. Furthermore, since becoming a father, his riding has changed from something personal to something he shares with his son and conveys the beauty of Japan's mountains to the next generation, which is why we welcomed him to the team." by AUTUMN Brand Owner: Brad Alband
From here, we will conduct a short interview with Nonoguchi Ru, who was selected for the outerwear international team. (Interview ALL Photo: Jun Watanabe)
-How did you become supported by AUTUMN?
My friend Yusaku Horii, who I talk to on the phone for over an hour a few times a year, invited me to support him with beanies and apparel from around the 1/21 season. Maybe it was because I tagged him so much in my riding posts, but it seems that the home side saw it and liked it... After that, I was shocked to hear from a person in charge of the Japanese distributor (Maneuver Line) that they would be releasing clothing at AUTUMN, and that I was one of the four riders from around the world who would be the launch team to represent Asia. I heard that an email would be sent soon, so I spent my days checking my inbox and spam folders. It reminded me of the bittersweet feeling of my junior high school days when I would contact the center wondering if the girl I liked had replied yet (bitter smile). After that, I received an incredible amount of English contracts, and I thought, "Is this spam!?" (laughs).
-Tell us about OUTERWEAR
It's really the best. I mainly used the 3-layer "SHASTA 3L JACKET" and the exciting baggy silhouette "RESERVE 3L PANT". I usually do backcountry activities in the mountains, but I'm a little hesitant to wear clothes that are "the mountain man" style... In that respect, AUTUMN's clothes have a snowboarder-like design that expresses freedom in riding, and are perfect in terms of functionality! The "CAMBER 2L JACKET and SHADOW 2L PANT" that I'm using in the second half of the season are light and easy to move in, with an exquisitely loose silhouette that's not too thick. The overall colorway has a mature atmosphere, so it's recommended for both cool freestylers and adults who enjoy all-mountain freeriding. It's really cool!
-What are your aspirations as an international rider?
I'm a 37-year-old who's been skiing in Hokkaido, a great environment, and I think this is the first and last international contract of my career. My passion and vibes for snowboarding are what motivate me more than anything, and I want to work to create a good cycle by making a good impression and giving back to the brand and users. I always do things like turning left and right, flying where I can, grabbing if I can, and spinning! It would be great if I could do that. I want to keep snowboarding in a fun and comfortable way.
-About future activities
I am currently working as an MC for the TV program No Matter Board, which is broadcast on Hokkaido Television. Every week, I invite a variety of guest riders to share the fun and wonder of snowboarding. I also enjoy sessions with friends, and teaching my son, who loves snowboarding, the secrets of Japan's hills and how to snowboard.
