Nekoma Mountain, a familiar feature in FREERUN magazine, is one of the largest ski resorts in Japan, located at the foot of Mount Bandai in Fukushima Prefecture, and opened in December 2023 by integrating Alts Bandai (currently the South Area) and Nekoma Ski Resort (currently the North Area) by connecting them with lifts.
Field area, business period, number one in Fukushima Prefecture
The northern area, formerly the Nekoma Ski Resort, is characterized by its location in one of the country's heaviest snowfall areas, allowing visitors to enjoy a long season from December through Golden Week. In fact, last year, the whole country was hit by a severe warm winter, and many slopes closed early, but Nekoma Mountain remained open for 12 days, the longest period in Fukushima Prefecture.
The South Area has many high-altitude courses, just like the North Area. However, some courses have had poor snowfall up until now, and the South Area usually opens around late December every year. However, this year, the latest snowmaking machine will be installed in the middle of the South Area. This will allow the area to open on December 12th, about one week to ten days earlier than usual.
Early access to the South Area ←→ North Area is now possible
This means that this season, early access from the southern area to the northern area will be possible, and together with the abundant snowfall in the northern area, the vast slopes can be enjoyed for a longer period of time. Nekoma Mountain has a total of 33 courses, with a wide variety of courses. It has the depth to satisfy snowboarders of all levels. Why not visit "again" or "this year for sure"?
