The Pyeongchang Olympics currently being held in South Korea. In the snowboarding women's slopestyle, there were many athletes who finished the competition without being able to demonstrate their true abilities due to the strong winds that whimsically blew through the venue. Therefore, since it is a sports festival once every four years, it is fresh in my memory that there were opinions that it should be more player-first.In the world of competition where you compete for points on a fixed course at a fixed date and time, you can decide the location while checking the condition for a long time, and you can freely choose the route and line to slide, the action and trick to be delivered. The world of images. There is no measuring rod there. That's why it wasn't often featured in the Japanese mass media, which prefers to win or lose. However, now that snowboarding is attracting attention, I want you to know that there are female riders living in the world of images.About Hiromi Takahashi, who is on an equal footing with overseas riders. Her talent, style, and way of life are fascinated by movie stars who have won many awards in overseas snowboard magazines.I want you to touch it.

Fascinated by the world of images

FREERUN editorial department (F): First of all, about the Olympic Games currently being held. What is your impression of the Olympics?
Hiromi Takahashi (T): I think the festival is an image.Of course, I want Japanese riders to do their best. However, personally, there are some negative points about how to decide the representative players, FIS (International Ski Federation), and the Olympic Committee. But now it's more of a chance for people who don't know snowboarding, and for a wider range of people, to get snowboarding.

F: Have you aimed for the Olympics?
T: Well, maybe not (laughs). As I seriously snowboarded, my desire to become a rider who expresses with images and photographs became stronger.I think that it has been influenced by the generation of local seniors, including the crew of "FUCKERS" that Mr. Taro (Koshiji), who is currently working with (Fuse) Tadashi, did.The surrounding environment is big.

F: You used to be in competitions, didn't you?
T: It's a long time ago. Some people said, "If you want to be a rider, it's definitely better to leave a result if you're a woman."So rather than wanting to win the tournament, I just wanted to get some results. From that time on, I wasn't in focus about becoming a rider who was active in the tournament.Rather, I wanted to be as fast as the riders around me who often go to shoot, asking me to go with them.

F: Why were there so many street footage when you started appearing in movies?
T: Originally I was better at jib, and the best thing was that I wanted to appear in a movie because of that slip. However, since I wanted to do anything from that time, I tried to shoot on the street and take me to the backcountry if I had a chance to gain experience. But when I think about the video, I think I gave priority to the streets where footage is easy to leave.

F: What kind of shooting do you do now?
T: Right now, I shoot a lot in the backcountry. The streets are fun, but the mountains are too difficult ...That made me feel regretful that I didn't want to lose, so I started to focus on shooting in the backcountry.Even so, I don't feel like I've run out of the streets, and the time when the snow is good passes by in an instant, so maybe a couple of years ago?In the midwinter, when the snow conditions are good, the mountain and spring are the streets.Considering my part to be completed, I think that the backcountry and street images are more impressive if they are half and half. However, I injured my knee two years ago and sealed the street last season.

Participation in the world's best girls movie

F: Please tell us how you decided to participate in the video project "THE UNINVITED" by Jess Kimura.
T: Last season, before Jess came to Japan, I was asked "Would you like to go on a trip together?"So, when I went there, I was told, "I'm doing a movie project for girls riders called UNINVITED, and I want them to participate as the main members."It was really sudden.

F: The special part that has already been released was crazy.
T: It's almost like a total edit using good images from the past, so I have to leave more than that in the future, so I feel that the hurdles have become extremely high ... (bitter smile). However, that part was showing my past footage when Jess came to Japan to teach him that "there are some points like this".Then he said, "Hiromi, old footage, please give me everything." "Hiromi may be known in Japan, but the world is full of people who don't know you yet. It's mottainai even though there is such a good video. I don't like Hiromi because it's an old video, but I edited it specially with UNINVITED. I want to make a part. "So, the video for about 5 to 6 years ... I'm sure I handed over 100GB.It took a long time, but Jess himself checked all of them, picked the cuts to use, and instructed the editor to make them.I felt Jess's love (laughs). So that part is a treasure for me.

F: Has anything changed since the video was delivered?
T: Hmm, especially (bitter smile).Ah, but Jess contacted me and said, "The number of views is by far the highest compared to Hiromi's part and other rider's parts."Apparently, it seems to be more exciting overseas than in Japan. It seems that people are saying, "Hey, that's dangerous."
