Improve your tree running skills with "GROW UP TREERUN" | Geto Kogen Ski Resort

Shohei Sasaki

Geto Kogen Ski Resort has an average snowfall of over 5m, and features high-quality powder snow and courses that make use of the rich natural terrain. What are the features of the courses that continue to gain fans as one of Japan's leading "holy grounds for tree running"?

HOTSLOPE 1

SHOOTER
You can take the first gondola for a round and enjoy the exciting "Lv.1" area, which has the most difficulty and involves skiing down a ridge along a natural terrain dotted with large and small undulations. The area is divided into four areas, and you can experience a variety of fun in the areas you aim for, with high-quality powder on the north-facing slopes.

HOTSLOPE 2

SUMMIT
This is the "Lv.2" area, which can be entered from near the observation deck at the summit. The terrain is gentle with a gentle slope and medium density of trees. The snow quality is good and the terrain is undulating, so you can enjoy skiing by choosing your own line. If you stray from the designated line marked with a sign, you will be at an avalanche point, so be careful of the border line.

Chikara

ROOKIE 1・2
A new tree run area. Area 1 is visible from the lift, and the start is steep and undulating, making it a challenging terrain even though it is "Level 2". It opens early, so the best time to go is in the morning after a snowfall. Area 2 below is a thrilling area with a gentler slope but more trees.

You can check the level (difficulty) of each tree run course in the spec table here.

TOPICS 2

Staying near the slopes is the best way to enjoy the slopes
"Gou" is a premium stay where you can enjoy an elegant stay in a slope-side location. You can see the slopes from the large windows, and it is fully equipped with a shared kitchen and dining area. There is also a hot spring facility on-site, so you can fully relax and soothe your tired body.

TOPICS 3

You can hit the slopes from Tokyo at 10am
Many people may not know how easy it is to get to. It takes about three hours from Tokyo to the nearest Kitakami Station on the Tohoku Shinkansen, and then a 3-minute free shuttle bus from the station. If you leave on the first train, you can arrive at 50am and start skiing in the morning. You can enjoy the heavy snowfall of Geto Highlands on a two-day, one-night trip.
