What do the “sliding masters” choose from the new gear that will be released this winter? If you listen to the voices of professional riders who use gear more than anyone else, you can imagine the feeling of use more concretely. So, I asked 14 riders why they chose their favorite gear. The tenth person is Masanori Takeuchi.

"I use STEP ON except for split boarding, but there is no problem with deep powder like Hikarigahara. In the first place, whether it is STEP ON or strap type, the snow on the base plate is scraped off and the snow on the bottom of the boots. It's the same as dropping the foot and then putting it in. STEP ON is already installed at that point, and the boots are firmly fixed to the binding, so I think it feels better on the soles of the feet.

The binding was very light, sharp and responsive X was good, but the usage rate of GENESIS, which was newly added to STEP ON, was high.I like the soft foot contact of high-back hammocks.Even though it is held properly, it feels like surfing and has a high degree of freedom in the legs, and it handles the board with a loose touch.Especially with powder, it makes contact with the snow surface smoother without giving unnecessary resistance. From this season, the cleats on both sides of the toe have a two-piece structure, which makes it easier to put on and take off in addition to achieving a more secure hold.

I also tested various boots. PHOTON is a model that is perfect for the expression of supple flex while having excellent holdability. It's not hard so you can move your ankles freely with powder. It's the only Asian fit in STEP ON boots, and it fits my feet quite well, depending on the last. The SWATH introduced this time is in good condition because it can be separated by double BOA.And it has a slightly looser impression than PHOTON.Basically, I don't wear boots very much, so it was a good match.I personally think that there is no difference between "yes" and "no" straps, but I think there are some people who feel secure when tightening the straps before slipping.

STEP ON stays in two stages, but even if there is a little snow on the sole of the boots, it will bite you. There are quite a few times when I slip in the first stage, and I've never missed it.However, because I'm stepping on the snow a little, the slipperiness changes a little. When I want to slip properly for shooting etc., I always put my foot up to the second stage. "

The greatest merit of STEP ON is the ease with which you do not have to sit down or tighten the straps. Takeuchi's advice is, "When you take off with a snow-packed burn, it is easier to turn your body toward the mountain side and place the center of gravity on the tip of the toe."
