Users in the world often wonder which one to choose when actually choosing clothing.Then, choose the clothes you want to wear while paying attention to colors, materials, waterproofness, and comfort.And we will create products that are as "satisfying" as possible within the framework of various interferences and costs for brands that release clothing, and the conventional methods of creating and embodying products.

However, the build project is not "satisfied", but pursues the "essence" that build puts out between the products to be released to the world and the products to be pursued.

This time, I was able to hear in detail about the idea and "making things" from the background of the birth of "build".

A) Please tell us about the background behind the birth of build.

First of all, there is a foundation that continues to create good products, but isn't it delivered to users?I continued to feel the question.I'm always thinking about riding sideways, and I want users to share their view of the world and sympathize with them.I would like to do that by creating things.

As the background to the birth of build, A7 has continued for about 12 seasons and continues to show the values ​​of the brand itself, but at a certain point, it tends to be like "business is also evaluated", and the brand You may lose track of your image.

There are certainly things that have been recognized and evaluated, and that have been "gained".These include crafting skills and relationships with people.But the lost thing is bigger.I've been searching for a lot from there, but the build concept at that time was born to reconfirm the origin of running purely forward when I first started.

Just two years ago, the prototype of the current build was born.At that time, I clarified the landing point of this concept.That is, "Let's create the best thing that this team can do, uncompromising, whether it sells or not."As a form, I am determined to create a product that makes the best use of the manufacturing and production experience that I have cultivated so far.

The idea that came out there was that it wouldn't be possible to make it at all unless it was made taboo as clothes and all things such as cutting and sewing were cleared again.

At that time, it wasn't something that would lead to business, but we felt light and hope there.Therefore, he consulted with the pattern designer about the product designed as an image and created it as a realistic product.I think it was very difficult for a patterner to realize such a difficult flat design in a realistic manner, and when I think about it now, I never thought that a product that would touch the hearts of this team would be completed.

But at that time, the finished product was something that attracted attention in a very different way within the company (laughs).

I think it was because it was a far cry from the products that I had created in-house that I had never seen or made.When I think about it now, I think the people at the top of the company were surprised that they created the idea that was out of the "frame" of the company so far.

Under such circumstances, we announced the build at the exhibition, but there was a lot of response from people who had no transactions at that time, and there have been various things so far, but this direction was not wrong. I was able to feel things with my skin, and I was convinced as a team about the direction of the thing called build.

B) What is a build project?

Actually, the build concept was originally created as one of A7. The main thing was that the A7 product team would propose something different from the previous A7, but in that case the genre would be fixed, which would also fix the build in the cage. I realized that it could be.That's why we stopped positioning build as a brand, and what we originally wanted to do and what we wanted to do was build, and the build project was born from that thought.

I didn't decide that it should be like this as one brand, I felt that it should be a "project" as something that is not bound by one genre, and I was caught up in the stereotypes of "must be like this" and "should be like this". I tried not to.

It's not just about self-satisfaction, it's a project that conveys the values ​​of clothing.

Nowadays, it is expressed as clothes, but in the future, I would like to make a transmission that is not bound by genre.Therefore, build is not sold as "for".However, it has quality that will satisfy you in any condition.

The name build comes from "scrap and build".It means to release the traditional "must be like this" binding, clarify the essence, and create from scratch.

C) What kind of philosophy do you have in making clothes?

As this team, we often talk about design and making things, but we want to avoid the expression becoming bloated due to excessive details, so we are designing with the minimum necessary.Instead of adding details, I believe that by scraping to the root, the true "essence" can be spoken, and everyone who can use it can be impressed and satisfied.

There are times when everyone wants to be "cool".You dress up to do that, but is that person really cool?It doesn't matter what brand of clothing you wear, but we feel that the essence of the clothing is clearly expressed and that "wearing while understanding the expressed essence" is cool.Therefore, we aim to be a product that can express the essence of build to the maximum.

D) Who would you like to wear a product with this philosophy?

I would be very happy if someone who sympathizes with the feelings of this product can wear it.It doesn't matter what the scene, genre or level is.If you feel the essence of the product when you actually pick it up and try it on, please wear it, and if there is always a build product on that side, I'm really happy.

What I felt during this interview was that the essence of build, which was created between the products to be released to the world and the products to be pursued, expresses their creative technology, passion, and humanity, and returns to the origin.

After finishing the interview, when I put on the jacket that was in front of me, I felt the urge to change my lifestyle with the jacket and my presence. The image of myself wearing it clearly came to my mind.

Creating things is a wonderful thing that can send passion and messages that can not be measured only by materials and shapes, and it was an interview that I could feel the magnitude of the energy created.
