carpe_titile

Special talk session of special project! We invited SNOW on SNOW, the author of the novel "CARPE DIEM" serialized by Yukibancho, as a guest.A novel "CARPE DIEM" with the theme of snowboarding.I think there are many people who loved reading it.
I also read it like this.
This novel, which was once serialized in February, has finally decided to resume serialization with Yukibancho from June 2nd! !!
This time, prior to the resumption of the serialization, I would like to explore the reason for the birth of "CARPE DIEM" and the feelings contained in the work.

CARPEDIEM Author: SNOWonSNOW (hereinafter "S")
Listener & Illustration: Mr. (hereinafter "M")

carpe_sub_1I enjoyed watching the serialization by M Yukibancho.
S Thank you.
M Well, first of all, I think that some of you may not know it, so if you briefly explain the novel "CARPE DIEM", it is probably the first full-scale mobile novel with the theme of snowboarding in the industry. It was serialized almost every day for about three and a half months from the month.
S Yes.But actually, I started writing on my page of SBN.
M Yes, I checked it.
S I was thrilled at first.I wonder if there are people who will respond to such a dull sentence.
M No, it doesn't work.It was a reaction.
I'm glad to hear a lot of comments from everyone at S Maipe. That made me feel a lot of response. However, I didn't want to end it in the limited area of My Page, so I made a trial and error, such as publishing it on my blog.
M Was it around October? The blogs of Shinji Tanaka and Izumi Amaike, who are sclovers, have been talked about. Is it around that time? What was the offer for serialization by Yukibancho?
S That's right.I was very happy! There are many people around us who are watching Yukibancho, and quite a few riders, right? After all, there is a difference in how you feel about serializing on a blog and serializing on proper media.
M I see.So what's the response?
S Many people supported us.Every time I updated with Yukibancho, I was happy to hear various comments from SBN My Page and mixi, and I realized that "Oh, you can see it properly."
M When the serialization ended in February, was there a response at last?
S Yes, there is a request to write the continuation ...
M I thought so as a reader.

carpe_sub_2M Why did you think of this novel book?
S I'm a rider at a certain shop while working as an office worker, but I felt that I couldn't become a professional rider, and I felt the technical limits. But I wanted to get involved in snowboarding in some way.The shop clerk may be the same, and the video makers are involved in snowboarding in their own way.In my case, one of the options was a novel.
A novelist, not an M writer or editor.
S I'm not confident in my writing skills. But I like to think about stories, whether they are delusional or not.Originally I liked manga, and I wanted to make this story into manga if I had a talent for painting.
M Oh yeah, I thought it was like a manga. At the prologue, you can see a cute picture that looks like a girl's manga.

rie
S Is it a little solid? But I like spokons quite a lot, and I like "Captain Tsubasa" and "Slam Dunk".
M Ah, it smells like that.
S But isn't there a manga about snowboarding right now?Even if I couldn't write manga, I thought I could write the original manga.
M I see! What kind of manga artist would you like me to draw?
S If Takehiko Inoue writes it, the snowboard boom will come again!
M It's coming! !!But it's a great dream again.Takehiko Inoue I wonder if you can really draw it ...However, depending on the circumstances, it may be suddenly made into a movie. There are a lot of them these days, like that or that ...
S Oh, that's amazing too. When I'm writing a sentence, I sometimes imagine that this scene would be a movie.
M I wonder if I want a dramatic development for movies and manga.
S It was also said by other people.
M But on the contrary, for snowboarders, it may be life-size, empathy, or easy to empathize with.
If you're a S-real novelist, I think you can use the power of interviews and writing to create things that you haven't experienced before, but you can't write well unless you've experienced something that is an amateur.
M Maybe it's better to have that much reality.I can feel the nuances and verses that people who can slide properly are writing. But after all, I want a little more drama when I'm conscious of the mass.
S That is the future development ...

carpe_sub_3M By the way, the meaning of the title is "CARPE DIEM", which means "live now" in Latin.
S You know it well.
I googled M (laughs). So what is that intent?
S Actually, I didn't have a sense of naming, so I asked the owner of a certain gallery I knew to read this novel, and that's the name I got.
M That person has a pretty fashionable sense. It's a little confusing, though.
S But when I was told what it meant, I was really clear. There was a time when I quit the company and stayed in the direction of Echigo Yuzawa, and it's a dropout in the world, but I had a strong desire to live in the present, which is the only time.In fact, what I experienced at that time and the friends I met are very important treasures.I think I could write this novel because I had memories of that time.
M I see, I see. That's a very enviable thing for me.I already had a family when I started snowboarding ...However, for those who have experience of muffledness, especially those who are doing their best as professional riders now, there may be a lot of things that they remember or sympathize with.
S I would be happy if you could read it with such memories. But I'm writing it so that people like Mr. who have no experience of muffled can accept it.
M Yeah, I understand. For example, Shinji's line, "I ... I might have hated snowboarding ...", came with Zukin.I didn't really dislike it, but there was a time when the urge and passion I felt when I first started seemed to have diminished, and I wonder if that was the feeling.
S That's right!Do you understand after all?
M Yeah, in my case, I wondered when I had no friends to go with, or when I lost my aspirations for slipping.I think there are various factors depending on the person, but there are moments when I lose sight of something.

S That was exactly the case with me.And the reason why that motivation came back was the words of my friends and the way I was doing my best.
M I think some people have lost their motivation.Maybe even the people who are doing it now sometimes think. But there are many ways to make snowboarding fun again.
It would be great if people who quit snowboarding could read this novel and try again.
M is wonderful!
S Thank you.
M By the way, it is said that the third part is finally starting to be serialized, but can you see Shinji who has grown up?
S It's fun after reading.
M I'm looking forward to daily updates. Please do your best in the series.
S Please support me again.

shinji"CARPE DIEM" was born by spelling out the experience of SNOWonSNOW and the feelings born from it.I'm glad that SBN's My Page was the catalyst for sending it out to the world.
There are people who write sentences, people who draw pictures, people who are fascinated by riding, and people who have ways to shape their feelings. It was a dialogue that reminded me that I wanted to be such an SBN, where various expressions will continue to be born and people who see and feel them will be connected.
See you somewhere again.
Cheers,
Mr.
