Following on from last year, OMO5 Otaru by Hoshino Resorts is holding the Otaru Canal Kotatsu Cruising.
The event will run from December 2024, 12 to March 14, 2025. This is an event where you board a boat on the Otaru Canal in the evening, warm yourself in a kotatsu on board, and gaze upon the winter cityscape of Otaru as you float along the canal.
This season, participants will also be treated to a new pairing menu featuring "Brownie Baton Pie and Blended Tea," available exclusively at "Nouvelle Vague LeTAO Chocolatier (LeTAO New Chitose Airport store)."
There are several ski resorts dotted around Otaru City, a city famous as a tourist destination.
In this city, you can have fun snowboarding and sightseeing, day, evening and night. You will surely enjoy snowboarding + sightseeing trip to the fullest.
Features of "Otaru Canal Kotatsu Cruising"
1) Operating the "Kotatsu Boat" exclusively for guests staying at the hotel
The Otaru Canal Cruise is usually conducted on a boat with bench seats, but with the cooperation of Otaru Canal Boat LLC, a boat specially equipped with kotatsu tables will be operated for this event.
On this boat, you can experience the beautiful, clear winter of Otaru while staying warm, all the more because of the harsh cold.
The cruise lasts for about 40 minutes in the evening, when the lights of the street lamps and illuminations along the canal are reflected on the water's surface.
You can let your imagination run wild as you enjoy the snow-covered retro townscape to your heart's content.
2) Enjoy the snowy scenery of Otaru from a special seat
The area along the Otaru Canal is filled with historical architecture, including stately timber-framed stone buildings, giving it an exotic feel.
The event takes place there after sunset, when the canal is most beautifully lit up.
If you look from the water, you will see a fantastic view of retro buildings covered in snow and lit by gas lamps.It will surely be etched in the minds of the participants as a special winter memory.
3) Brownie Baton Pie and Blended Tea from LeTAO

On board the ship, you can enjoy the popular "Brownie Baton Pie" from "Nouvelle Vague LeTAO Chocolatier," which is only available at the store at New Chitose Airport. When you take a bite of this hot dessert, which is made of a smooth brownie wrapped in buttery pie, the subtle aroma of Darjeeling will warm your heart.
It features an elegant scent of orange and strawberry.It is even more delicious when paired with LeTAO's black tea "Otaru no Kaori."
