Focusing own style: Interview with Makiya Mizohata

It all started when I asked him for a report from the Head Jib Factory in Germany last year.I've heard a lot about his riding from all over the world, and you can see what's good by looking at the pictures. However, while there are many articles that I do not know what to say while wrapping up gently these days, I do not get tired of reading the report he wrote in a straight ball style, but rather how he feels and acts about snowboarding. I was genuinely interested in it, and as this season was almost over, I was able to interview Makiya Mizohata again.

XNUMX) What kind of movement did Makiya do in what area this season?

This season, I went to Colorado, USA from the end of November to February.
I do it every year, but this year I'm planning to focus on shooting streets overseas for the first time, and I was looking forward to a session with overseas riders. However, I had to give up shooting because I had a severe crash on the first day of shooting and the camera was broken because the shooting at night exceeded -XNUMX degrees.

Another goal, to participate in overseas contests, was achieved in the Volcom Peenuts Butter Rail Jam Keystone qualifying.Famous riders did not participate, but the locals were good at slipping.Among them, the "Gooyest Move Of Event" (award given to riders who made good moves during the tournament), which was won at Backside lipslide450out, was a good opportunity to feel confident in myself.

After returning to Japan, I mainly worked in Fukui, Myoko, Hakuba, etc. based in my hometown of Gifu, but I was injured so much that I had a lot of time in Gifu this season. But thanks to that, I was able to get involved in local events and competitions and made many new connections. It was a season with a lot of pain, but it was not a disappointing season, but a good season with a lot of harvest and reflection for next year.

Shinya has been learning many things from this season. Snowboarding, of course fishing as well.

XNUMX) What was the level and atmosphere of overseas parks and snowboarders?

Overseas parks are focusing on intermediate and advanced players, and XNUMX% of jib items are rails. Moreover, the rails are often shaped and installed in ways that have never been seen in Japan, and I feel that new skills will be required.
Riders who are slipping do not have the same culture as in Japan, and it feels like the one who wants to go goes.

Everyone is friendly and we talk to each other almost every time we get on the lift.I soon became friends and made friends on Facebook and went to parties together.World-famous riders gather in Colorado due to the fact that it has one of the best parks overseas and that big competitions are held frequently. So the level of riders who are skiing in the park is very high and they are creatively skiing. It's an environment where you can study by watching, it's fun to slide together, and you can naturally improve your skills.

XNUMX) I think that park riding is the main thing, but are there any techniques you are practicing or aiming for recently?

I don't have any specific tricks I'm practicing at the moment, but I'm conscious of the details such as how to hit the board on the rails and how to apply the edge on the free run.Until now, I feel like I've vaguely tried tricks and remembered it, but I'm slipping like this to improve my level.

There is no style I am aiming for.The style that imitates someone is not my style, and I don't think it's the best for me.I'm most glad that you think my current style of slipping as you wish is cool.

He focuses to build more his own style.

XNUMX) What kind of boards, Binding, Boots do you like?

It's hard to talk about gear preferences, but I'm often attached to the gear I'm using and continue to use the same model, and if I'm using a new model, I'll be able to slip in the same way right away.I'm not particular about it.Lol
However, the sponsorhead snowboardsBoots are my favorite of all my gear. Not only looks but also functionality is really good. The thermo-inner fits naturally, is hard to get wet, and is hard to loosen. And it's hard to break.I'm deliberately choosing boots that are a little smaller in size to fit better.

XNUMX) What kind of snowboarding lifestyle does Makiya aim for?

Snowboarding naturally joined my lifestyle as I grew up in Gujo City, Gifu Prefecture.
Fishing, which I have been doing since I was little, and drinking alcohol, which my father and other locals taught me, are also important parts of my lifestyle. Not bad, but snowboarding is by no means the best in your lifestyle. It's best to spend time with friends in the area, and it's also best to spend time fishing alone. However, snowboarding spends more time than anything else.

He always thinks about how his snowboarder's career and connect with his local area

Thanks to snowboarding, you can go to many places both domestically and internationally, and you can connect with many people.By working as a snowboarder representing Gujo City, Gifu Prefecture, I will eventually give back to me by infusing a new wind into the local area and making the snow scene in Gifu more exciting. I can only do it, and I think it will be the best snowboarding lifestyle for me.

I would like to find out what kind of new wind and gratitude can be given in future activities. At this point, I think it will be the end of my snowboarding life as a rider when it becomes clear and put into action.
