Interview with Itaru Fujinuma

It's Fujinuma.Surprisingly pure and hot-blooded.A rider who continues to stick to a lifestyle that is devoted to snowboarding and skateboarding. And human resources who are full of humor and indispensable to liven up the event.
We would like to send you an interview with Itaru Fujinuma, who was able to hear his thoughts on continuing to lead the snowboarding industry from his position as a professional snowboarder.

XNUMX) When did you start snowboarding? And what did you do until you became a professional?

I think I first got on the snowboard when I was XNUMX years old.I lived in Utsunomiya City, Tochigi Prefecture, where it doesn't snow much, so I'll be able to go to ski resorts more often later.
When I was XNUMX, I moved to Myoko City, Niigata Prefecture (which was Myoko Village at that time) and started to be buried in powder at Seki Onsen Ski Area, Akakura Kanko Ski Area, ARAI MOUNTAIN (laughs), Spring Seki Onsen, ARAI, Myoko Pine. I skated on the halfpipe in the valley and started participating in the JSBA halfpipe tournament at the age of XNUMX, and obtained PSA professional qualification with the results of the XNUMX-year-old season.
I think I first signed a professional contract with a company when I was XNUMX years old.I'm XNUMX years old this year, so it's more than XNUMX years ago.

XNUMX) As far as you can see the Real Mac Twist of your technique, I think your style is influenced by skateboarding.

I can't skate on a Mac (sweat), but I've always loved watching skateboarding videos since I was a kid, so I longed for Mac twists and invert tricks.
All the snowboarding acquaintances longed for Terje Håkonsen, and I also longed for Terje, Daniel, and Ingemer, but after a long time when the knowledge of snowboarding came to my mind, it was actually like Danny Way and Tony Hawk. I longed for a famous skater and wanted to do a Mac twist like that one day (laughs).
I was longing for big style skaters like John Cardiel, Alan Petersen, and Wade Spyer, so when I first put on my snowboard, I felt that it was easy to get a style with a grab trick on a snowboard with my legs fixed with bindings. I naturally wanted to decide on a trick in my favorite style.Oh, I wonder if Reims, Cab, and Gonz's Invert were also longing for it.Oh, of course I thought Mike McGill was cool, because there was a story about Mac! !!
There was no park around where I lived and I was skating flat all the time, so maybe I longed for the skater I wrote above, as you can see in the video. My friends were wearing VANS Salman Agah professional models, and I was wearing AIRWALK's NTS (not the same?).I miss you ~!

XNUMX) It seems that you spent this season on the theme of returning to the origin. What kind of activities did you do?

It's been XNUMX years since I started professional activities, and most of the players who were in the competition at that time have left the competition and moved to a different field.
However, I don't like to stop doing what I've been doing completely because of my personality, and I've been chasing the backs of the snowboarders I longed for, but I want to find myself different from myself. I remember when I was XNUMX years old when I started snowboarding seriously, and I wanted to challenge things and places I didn't try like those days when I was fresh no matter what I did. from

The theme of this season is return to origin

I came to say that.

Skate in various places in the summer and have a meeting about winter before the season
If you actually enter the season, you will be able to change the Pro Tour and teach the students of your alma mater, All Japan Winter Sports College, as long as time permits.INDRESS FORMATIONI took a picture with the crew.

XNUMX) From this seasonINDRESS FORMATIONDid the shooting with you go smoothly?

The Myoko Hakuba area at the beginning of the season, Hokkaido visited by participating in the event, and the mountains of the remaining snow in various places at the end of the slope season, it is said that it is the season to have the camera follow my riding for the longest time ever. think.I think it's still more and more ...!

Since I have lived in Myoko for a long time, I used to wear snowshoes to go deep into the snowy mountains, but it was purely fun to take out the crampons and pickaxes that had been treasures and go up to the mountains. I was so excited by the magnificent scenery I met, I turned my head to cherish a single run, and I really enjoyed the experience I had never experienced before, and I really appreciate the director, filmer, photographer, and friends who rode together. doing.

XNUMX) What kind of board or binding do you like to get your half-pipe riding style?

With the support of head snowboards, I like responsive boards and bindings.Gear that instantly transforms your intentions into action.
You may prefer a soft and loose feeling to slide slowly, but it's hard and firm, and you can fly big if you thrust it in!I like simple and clear old-fashioned gear like this (laughs)

Itaru9

I also like technical people like turning, rubbing, turning out, but I loved the fast and big style skaters. In Japan, it's like Wataru Nagashima and Shintaro Maruyama.
Ah!Of course I also like Go Ueda! !!Thank you for your continued support.I'm a fan of XNUMXmind crew including Go and Kose (laughs)

Dolly

XNUMX) Why did you suddenly have red hair that year?

picture? It's a return to origin, this is also a kind of (laughs)
Doesn't it look good?I've always looked good with headgear, so I think it looks good with a flashy head.
Didn't you think that everyone was like a snowboarder when they saw Lippy?

Itaru Fujinuma

XNUMX) What is the shape of your snowboarding lifestyle?

Now ... I wonder if it's time for the snowboarding life to end if I stop skiing?I'm thinking.Well, these ideas may change depending on your growth and the feelings and values at that time.

Unlike when I was a kid skating all year long, Mind thinks he's a skater, even if he spends a lot of time away from skating in the winter.Even a skater who can't do anything like me (laughs).

If you really like something, what you like will be your top priority, right? That's why ... So from that perspective, I think my mind must be a snowboarder for the rest of my life.

XNUMX) One last word

Hmm ... what is it?
I fainted overseas many times in the United States and New Zealand.
Kazu from SBN introduced me to my job in NZ and I worked with him at Cardrona.
Did you go up to the mountains after practicing dance every morning in Canada because you were going to have fun at Kazu's wedding? (Lol
Various thoughts run around in my head, but ...
Yes, I had something to tell you.
Now ... It's a scary world where things can be real, depending on what's wrong and how things are communicated.
If you google what you don't understand on your smartphone, the problem will be solved in one shot! But is that really true?Like.
Isn't there a lot of people who read or see things that come into their eyes as images or print on TVs and PCs without any doubt? However, there are many mistakes.
When I saw an article in a professional magazine that misrepresented the trick name ... I thought it was absolutely useless.
For those who see it, there is no lie because it is written in books sold all over the country, and the false information is converted into real information in that person, maybe for the rest of his life. You may remember the "wrong truth" and sometimes tell others about it.
People who are in a position to tell things are responsible for telling things.
There are many things I could experience because I was snowboarding.I got money at the tournament, I was allowed to do a program on TV, I became a teacher even though I was called Yuan Yang, I was asked to write a book, I was allowed to work abroad, at the airport and on TV I think that it is possible to convey to the younger generation because I saw a place where I was slipping ... I experienced many such extraordinary experiences.
Recently, I have come to think that I should not tell the wrong thing or show the wrong behavior.
I wonder if I should be careful and live ... I'm trying to conclude with some good childish remarks w I'm not a good child w
But one day, I will tell young children about the time when I started to lie down, about slipping, gear, and the world I have seen, in an environment that raises people with feelings like myself. I wish I could create a place where I could do it.
Those who are willing to throw away trash around that area, those who smoke without thinking about the surroundings, those who do not line up in the waiting line for the lift and snake while hitting the board, etc. I want to tell you not to be the kind of guy who does.
I want to create a place where I can convey things that I didn't have around me, things that I wish I had, things that I can think of now, things that I can convey because I am now.
When someone made a trick, I dared to laugh with a loud voice and naturally yeah! !!It's a place where like-minded friends can get together, like a skate spot that remembers screaming.
